Google Should Purchase Yahoo |
Robert Young through Publishing 2.0 believes that there are some reasonable points why Google should acquire Yahoo. First Yahoo! Mail has over 10 times the market share of Gmail on the free email market accounting for about 50% of it. Yahoo’s Answer and photo site Flicker are successful compared to their counterparts in Google. To combine their efforts in tying up with the publication industry, it can most likely assure success for everyone involved.
In terms of ad space domination, Yahoo’s ad sales expertise and partnership with big Madison Ave brands and agencies are top of the line. Aside from the promising features of Yahoo, Google should also consider to buy its rival online search giant to try and spare it from federal antitrust regulators’ criticisms and even from Congress. The emphasis of such proposed merger is to combine strengths. Unlike if Microsoft acquires Yahoo! which would represent weakness hand in hand with another weakness. An edge also lies on Google empowering Yahoo’s weakness that is search. Google as the buyer can do such unlike any other which will only be burdened by Yahoo’s search engine troubles.
